Leadership Scholarships

This scholarship is available for external students only who are entering Years 9 – 11. These students have already demonstrated leadership in their local community and display a capacity and drive to influence the College Community positively through leadership.

Eligibility for a leadership scholarship at Bishop Tyrrell Anglican College is based on a combination of academic excellence, intellectual curiosity, leadership qualities, and a genuine commitment to learning and personal growth. The Scholarship Committee carefully evaluates each application to select deserving recipients who embody the values of academic excellence and intellectual curiosity upheld by the College.

To apply, students will need to provide the following:

  1. Personal Statement: Applicants will be required to submit a handwritten personal statement or essay to the Principal outlining why they wish to be educated at Bishop Tyrrell Anglican College. It should also address each of the Leadership Scholarship Criteria found below. This provides an opportunity for applicants to articulate their passion for learning and commitment to leadership.
  2. Letters of Recommendation: No more than three supporting letters of recommendation from teachers, mentors, or other individuals familiar with the student’s leadership abilities and character will need to be submitted. These letters can provide additional insight into the applicant’s leadership potential and personal qualities.
  3. Academic reports: Upload your last four academic reports, NAPLAN results and any academic awards received by the applicant.
  4. Interview: Applicants will be required to participate in an interview to further assess their suitability for the scholarship. This interview may focus on academic interests, goals, and the applicant’s potential contribution to the academic community at the College.
Leadership Scholarship Criteria
Academic Excellence: Applicants must have a strong academic record, including outstanding results. This may be demonstrated through school reports, NAPLAN results, and academic awards or honours.
Intellectual Curiosity: Eligible students should exhibit a genuine passion for learning, intellectual curiosity, and a thirst for knowledge both inside and beyond the classroom. This may be demonstrated through participation in academic competitions, research projects, or cocurricular work.
Leadership and Initiative: Applicants should demonstrate leadership and initiative in their local community and display a capacity and drive to influence the College Community positively through leadership.
Cocurricular Involvement: While the primary focus of a leadership scholarship is on leadership experience and skills, involvement in extracurricular activities such as clubs, sports, or the arts will also be considered positively. Active participation in diverse activities demonstrates a well-rounded approach to education and personal development.
